Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC) is set to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their pivotal third album, ‘Howl’, with a massive deluxe re-release and an extensive UK and European tour. The announcement confirms the band’s decision to revisit the album that marked an unexpected but critically successful curveball in their career.
The ‘Howl’ 20th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set is due for release on January 30th, 2026, via PIAS.
A New Direction Hailed by Critics
Originally hitting shelves in 2005, Howl saw BRMC shed the dense, guitar-driven, reverb-and-white-noise sound that defined their earlier work. Instead, the album embraced a stark, stripped-back sonic landscape, heavily influenced by folk, blues, and gospel.
The shift was met with widespread acclaim:
- Q Magazine ranked it at No. 7 in their ‘Highest Rated Albums Of 2005’.
- NME praised its depth, stating, “Steeped in country, folk and gospel, ‘Howl’ is a primitive cry from the heart of a distant Americana… [it] finds them both experimental (an autoharp, piano, trombone and timpani all feature alongside the usual guitar and harmonica) and reflective…”
- The Guardian noted that “The songwriting and performances (on Howl) are consistently gripping.”

The centerpiece of the anniversary celebration is the Deluxe Box Set, available for pre-order now, alongside a 2x vinyl LP set and a single CD.
