ELECTRIC CALLBOY: NX, NEWCASTLE

Electric Callboy the German electonicore or EDM (electric dance metal) as I like to call it are a band not to be missed!

The should have  been Eurovision competitors have had a great few years with releases HYPA HYPA and We Got The moves. The second night of their UK and France tour was a blast.

First up for the evening in the recently opened NX Newcastle was Annisokay. The post hardcore band from Germany had a great atmosphere getting the crowd bouncing to an incredible cover of Duality by Slipknot. It was great to see the crowd react well to a band not known well in the UK and I ‘m quite looking for to seeing them play again soon.

Through the crowd you could tell who most are here to see! Groups of guys dressed up in 80’s gym clothes and huge bling wigs, exactly like the band does in their Hypa Hypa video! The crown starts a chant of “here we here we … ‘here we F*****g Go!’ (surprisingly first I’ve heard outside of Scotland) as the bands intro starts to play!

Confetti cannons go off as they kick off their opening song Pump It! The band looked thrilled at rapturous welcome they got coming onto the stage dressed up as they are in the song’s video. Next up they play Arrows of love a favourite of mine from their recently released album Tekno. After the song the band leave the stage for one of the first costume changes of the night!

Next up, they play some of their older releases Hate/love, Supernova, fan favourite MC Thunder II and Tekkno Train from the recent album. They run off stage again to change into their outfits from the HYPA HYPA video. The crowd goes wild as  the song kicks in.

They play a few more fan favourites Crystals, Best Day then ending on MC Thunder but the crowd wanted more. Coming back for an encore we got to see them play their newest song live. Mindreader which had only been released a few days before hand. They followed up that with Spaceman and closing the night with We Got the Moves again wearing the outfits from the video.

Electric Callboy in my opinion are one of the best live touring bands at the moment they have such a great energy onstage which is really enhanced by the high quality lighting production they bring. I can only see things getting bigger for them in years to come.
