FALL OUT BOY: OVO HYDRO, GLASGOW

It’s not just any Saturday night, it’s Halloween weekend and rockers have descended down to Glasgow OVO Hydro in their hundreds with some in their best dressed outfits for an epic sold-out emo night.

Nothing Nowhere was first to get the crowd warmed up and ready to rock the night away. From the beginning of his set, he was full of energy and giving it his absolute all, I was tired just watching him bounce from one side of the stage to the other!

Next on this fantastic line up was PVRIS. PVRIS blew me away by their amazing strong vocals and energetic stage presence. The crowd was pretty packed into the arena already and they were clearing loving it as they sang and danced along throughout.

After a sing along to “We Didn’t Start the Fire”, the crowd were more than ready for Fall Out Boy to grace the stage. The lights dimmed down and the intro began as everyone watched the stage in anticipation.

After a brief hello it was straight into tonight’s opening “Love From The Other Side” which is a hit off their newest album “So Much (For) Stardust”. It’s clear the crowd were ready to party as the roars filled the room and the hands were thrown in the air. The night was a great mix of absolute bangers from their album of hits including “The Pheonix”, “Una Thurman” and “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” alongside their newer material “Heaven, Iwoa”, “Fake Out” and “Hold Me Like A Grudge”.

This show wasn’t just mesmerizing from the strong vocals of Patrick Stump, but the whole production was incredible. A mix of Pyro, fireworks, the big dog floating and of course can’t forget Pete Wentz’s flamethrower guitar.

Halfway through the set it was slowed down slightly by piano medleys from frontman Patrick Stump including a cover of “Don’t Stop Beleivin” that led nicely into “Save Rock and Roll”.

Would it be a Scottish show if we weren’t being told how amazing we are? One thing that we are good for is our gigs, everyone loves them, and Pete Wentz is no different as he tells the crowd that although he’s not Scottish “In a room like this I feel Scottish, it’s chaotic and I love it”.

The magic 8 ball song of the night was a big hit that had the crowd go feral and that was no other than “Young Volcanoes” which hasn’t been played since 2018. It was nearing the end of the almost 2-hour set and of course they were ending this epic night with their greatest hits “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)”, “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs” and “Centuries”, with their final song of the night being “Saturday” that went out with a bang as the confetti canons shot over the crowd.
